How to Reconstitute Peptides
Reconstituting a peptide takes 5 minutes and is straightforward once you understand the basics. Here's exactly how to do it.
📋
What You Need
• The peptide vial (lyophilized powder)
• Bacteriostatic (BAC) water
• 1mL insulin syringes (31g × 8mm)
• Alcohol swabs
• A refrigerator
BAC water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. It extends peptide shelf life to 60–90 days refrigerated. Do not use sterile water unless you plan to use the entire vial within 24 hours.
📋
The Reconstitution Process
Step 1: Wipe the rubber top of both the BAC water vial and the peptide vial with an alcohol swab. Let dry 30 seconds.
Step 2: Draw up the desired amount of BAC water into a syringe (e.g., 3mL for a typical BPC-157 vial).
Step 3: Insert the needle into the peptide vial at an angle and let the BAC water run DOWN THE GLASS WALL — do not squirt directly onto the lyophilized cake.
Step 4: Gently swirl (do not shake). If the powder doesn't dissolve immediately, let sit 15–20 minutes in the fridge.
Step 5: Label the vial with the date reconstituted. Use within 60–90 days.
🧮
The Concentration Formula
Concentration (mcg/mL) = (Vial mg × 1000) ÷ BAC water mL
Example: 10mg BPC-157 + 3mL BAC water
= (10 × 1000) ÷ 3
= 3,333 mcg/mL
This means every 1mL contains 3,333mcg of peptide.
🧮
Calculating Your Dose
Volume to inject (mL) = Desired dose (mcg) ÷ Concentration (mcg/mL)
Insulin syringe units = Volume (mL) × 100
Example: 500mcg BPC-157 from 3,333mcg/mL solution:
= 500 ÷ 3,333
= 0.15mL
= 15 units on an insulin syringe

💡
Storage
• After reconstitution: refrigerate at 2–8°C. Use within 60–90 days.
• Never freeze reconstituted peptides — ice crystals damage the protein structure.
• Lyophilized powder: store at -20°C (freezer) for up to 2 years.
• Keep away from light.
• Opened BAC water vials: use within 30 days.
⚠️
Common Mistakes
• Shaking the vial — this denatures the peptide. Always swirl gently.
• Squirting BAC water directly onto the powder — let it run down the glass wall.
• Not letting alcohol swab dry — alcohol can degrade the peptide.
• Freezing after reconstitution — damages protein structure.
• Forgetting to label the date — you won't remember when you opened it.
